A report has been published on the Climate Dramaturgy lab we co-ran earlier this year with BIPAM, the Thai Theatre Foundation and climate dramaturg Zoë Svendsen, and which our co-director Paul helped organise and facilitate. The lab lasted 5 days and was an incredibly inspiring and positive gathering of some of Thailand’s most interesting and innovative artists.

We delved into issues of climate justice and how the climate crisis plays out in a Thai context, as well as reviewing global developments in sustainable performing arts practices. We looked at what Thai performing arts practitioners might usefully learn from the rest of the world and, perhaps more importantly, what they can teach us.

Since then, Creatives for Climate Action Thailand has launched a toolkit to give practitioners practical guidance for every step of their sustainability journeys. It contains a range of resources, including practical tools, guidance and contact details of partners who can help event organizers reduce their environmental impact. The accompanying database allows people to add their organisations and initiatives, thus building a network of potential cooperation and knowledge-sharing.

The toolkit also contains case studies, one of which is the Climate Dramaturgy lab.
