Our sister organisation, The Society of British Theatre Designers, is rolling out its now one-day Carbon Literacy Training course, specifically tailored to the needs of theatre designers and their collaborators, with a focus on freelance artistic practice and decision making processes.
It will help you become knowledgable and confident about sustainable practice both in the studio and in production and reveal the creative possibilities in working more sustainably. It is an essential part of meeting Theatre Green Book standards for production and is a great introduction to thinking about sustainability in creative practice.
Professional designers for performance of all types are welcome, plus those who work closely with designers as part of the creative and production team- directors, creative workshop teams, costume supervisors, production managers etc. as well as design educators.
Following a pilot at the National Theatre, UK, the first two courses are in SE England.
Albany Theatre, Deptford  – Tuesday 20th June
Folkestone Quarterhouse  – Thursday 31st August
Courses will be taking place elsewhere in the UK – and perhaps beyond – in the near future. Contact sustainability@theatredesign.org.uk to find out more.
