Eleanor Ellis [She/Her]
Ecostage Pledger
Can you tell us something about yourself?
I am a recent graduate, a lover of theatre, nature, and community; I aim to work in arts education, widening access to the arts and spreading a passion for practices that benefit our environment. My professional training is in costume for performance, but my interests spread to all community-led creative outputs and spaces where art brings people together.
What was the turning point when you became ecologically aware and decided to take action?
I was raised ecologically aware for the wider world, however it was during my studies that I started to understand the ecological issues surrounding theatre, and particularly textiles. Speaking with other passionate students helped me begin to understand and incorporate ecological practices into my work. I developed an interest in the attitudes people have around these practices, and my undergraduate thesis looked into how the accessibility of sustainable clothing intersects with social class in the UK.
